All documents must be printed out and presented in original plus a photocopy where required. Applicants must always appear in person (including minors).

Documents required for Schengen Visa applications – Tourism

The form should be completed online, printed and duly signed, please make sure that the bar code is clear and printed in high quality.

If the applicant is a minor (under the age of 18) both parents/legal guardian must sign the application form.

Passport or travel document (original plus one photocopy):

–          valid at least 3 months beyond the return date of your trip to Italy;

–          with at least two blank pages.

The passport will be kept and returned with the visa, if approved.

Cyprus Residence Permit (original plus one photocopy):

–          valid at least 3 months beyond the return date of your trip to Italy.

The white receipts from the Migration Department are not accepted as proof of residence.

Two passport-style photos, full front and white background and not older than 6 months.
Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip, your itinerary and any relevant information.
Fully paid both-ways airplane travel tickets.

If traveling among multiple Schengen countries, travel tickets are mandatory between every border.

Fully booked hotel reservation OR original invitation letter from your host in Italy.

–          the invitation letter must be addressed to the Italian Embassy in Nicosia, dated and duly signed together with a photocopy of the host ID/passport (the signature of the holder must appear). If the host in Italy is a non-EU citizen, host’s Residence Permit in Italy is required (signature of the holder must appear).

If traveling among multiple Schengen countries, proof of accommodation must be provided for every country.

Travel insurance:

–          must be issued in Cyprus or in one of the Schengen countries;

–          must cover the entire intended period of stay in the Schengen area;

–          must cover for all of the following:

a)   medical expenses and hospitalisation for at least 30,000 euros;

b)     repatriation in case of medical and other emergencies for at least 30,000 euros;

c)      repatriation of mortal remains for at least 30,000 euros.

The insurance statement must be in original, stamped and duly signed by a Company’s officer.

Personal bank statement (banks or branches based in Cyprus) of the last three months showing bearer’s name, address and financial history.

The bank statements provided must show the salary, pension or income coming in.

Any other Cypriot bank account (including savings) showing enough funds can be submitted.

Employed applicants, documentation of socio-professional standing:

–          a recent reference letter from the employer which must include:

a)      company registration number;

b)     employment start date;

c)      job title;

d)     annual salary;

e)      vacation period;

–          payslips for the last 3 months.

Self- Employed applicants, documentation of socio-professional standing:

–          certificate of incorporation (with commercial document attestation);

–          business bank statements for the last three months;

–          copies of business income taxes or, in alternative, an accountant letter (no older than one month, it must be a hard copy).

Retired applicants, documentation of socio-professional standing:

–          copy of your Social Insurance Statement confirming your retirement compensation.

Unemployed applicants must provide the following documents from their sponsor*:

–          sponsorship letter: if the sponsor does not appear in person on the application day, the sponsorship letter must be notarized;

–          documentation of socio-professional standing according to their professional situation (e.g. employed, self-employed, retired; please see previous points);

–          copy of the sponsor’s passport or ID;

–          birth/marriage/civil partnership certificate, please note:

a)      certificates issued by a foreign authority other than Cyprus, MUST be (1) in original, (2) provided with Apostille or, if issued by countries not members of the Apostille Convention, provided with legalization by the relevant Italian Consulate in the issuing country, and (3) if in a third language translated in English or Italian with a certified translation;

b)     certificates issued by one of the Schengen countries will be accepted only if multilingual;

c)      marriage certificates/civil partnership certificates older than 6 months will NOT be accepted.

*please note that sponsorships are accepted only among family members.

In case of students: recent (not older than one month) original reference letter duly signed, on the official headed paper from your University/College addressed to the Italian Embassy (hard copy).
In case of minors:

–          if one or both parents do not appear in person on the application day, a parental consent notarised by a Cypriot notary is mandatory;

–          if the parents live abroad, the consent must be declared at the relevant Italian Consulate of their country of residence;

–          a photocopy of both parents’ passports must be provided.

Citizens of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine need to provide their birth certificate or consular declaration containing full names of mother and father.

 

Please be aware that, at the time of your appointment, your application will not be accepted unless presented with all required documents. In case of incomplete submissions, the applicant will have to schedule a new appointment.

Applicants are allowed to submit any additional documents that they consider useful to explain/justify the trip.

Visa fees are payable only in cash.
