School trips to Italy

According to the article 1 of the Decision adopted by THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION on the 30th November 1994 , visa is not required for foreign school pupils who are not citizen of a member State but are legally resident in another member State if

(a) in the framework of a school excursion, where the pupil is travelling as a member of a group of school pupils from a general education school;

(b) the group is accompanied by a teacher from the school

(c) the school pupil presents a travel document valid for crossing the border in question.

In light of the above, schools planning a school trip to Italy should submit the relevant form, duly completed, bearing the school director’s signature as well as the school’s stamp. The form must be submitted alongside a copy of the students’ passports, as well as of the relevant consent statements of their parents for the trip.

The form is to be presented at the Embassy by a representative of the school, following an appointment through the  Prenotami portal.  The appointment may be booked using the “Consular Services” option.
