Music Event “A musical journey into the Autumn of the Middle Ages”

The Embassy of Italy in Cyprus and the Leventis Municipal Museum have the pleasure to invite you to a unique music event and lecture under the title “A musical journey into the Autumn of the Middle Ages” availing of the presence of the renowned manuscript of Turin on the island. The event is organized in the framework of the XVIII edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World and it will take place on Friday, 19th October 2018, at 18:30 at the Leventis Museum.

The Music Codex of Cyprus, which is back on the island after a long absence of six centuries, has become by now a much-discussed fact and is on display in the big temporary exhibition of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, titled “Nicosia: the birth and growth of a capital. Byzantine and Medieval period”. This valuable exhibit has been given to the Museum on loan, by the National University Library of Turin, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus.

A presentation of the Turin Codex and its significance for the European music of the
Medieval period, in comparison with other music codices of the era.
