Dr. Vincenzo Guzzo, Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund to Cyprus for over five years, has received the Italian decoration of “Cavaliere della Stella d’Italia” (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) from the Ambassador of Italy to Cyprus, H. E. Andrea Cavallari, during a ceremony held yesterday evening at the Italian Residence at the presence of colleagues and friends.
In awarding the decoration, Ambassador Cavallari said that during his tenure – which has coincided with one of the most difficult moments for Cyprus and its economy – Dr Guzzo has accomplished his duties in close association with the Cyprus authorities and in good spirit of cooperation with all the diplomatic mission present in Cyprus, with unanimous praise for his high professionalism, strong moral values together with an always friendly and human approach.
“Italy – continued the Ambassador – is particularly proud of the results achieved by Mr. Guzzo, as it attaches the greatest importance to the activity of Italian officers working in international organization. We consider that Mr. Guzzo could serve as an example to the many young Italians starting their career in international organizations.
We are also convinced that by his excellent achievements, he has also contributed to enhance the level of relations between Italy and Cyprus and the friendship existing between our countries.”
