As part of the official celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia has prepared the exhibition “Leonardo: The Gentle Genius” which consists of ten panels illustrating the main moments of Leonardo’s biography and the areas in which he most distinguished himself (painting, sculpture, engineering, architecture, anatomy, codes).
The exhibition has been prepared in the context of the two lectures organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the art historian Maria Paphiti: “Rediscovering Leonardo da Vinci: the secret lives of his paintings” by Maurizio Seracini (28 May 2019) and the imminent “Leonardo da Vinci Five Hundred Years on: the Salvator Mundi and other stories” by Professor David Ekserdjian (2 December 2019).
The exhibition has been also displayed on June 4th at the Italian Residence on the occasion of the reception for the National Day of Italy and it is also intended for use in multiple Cypriot educational institutions such as the public Latsia Lyceum and Kykkos A Lyceum, Terra Santa College, St’ Mary’s School, etc.
The exhibition is easily transportable and can be displayed on request in schools, libraries, etc. For expression of interest, please kindly contact the Embassy’s Cultural Office (Email: firstname.lastname@example.org, Tel. 22357635).
The exhibition was set up with the material made available by the Italian Ambassador to Sofia, Stefano Baldi.
