The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is promoting the internationalisation of Italian research and scientific diplomacy as essential tools for developing cooperation between Italy and the rest of the world.

Italy and Cyprus signed an Agreement on Cultural, Scientific, Technological and Educational Cooperation which intends to promote wider joint activities and further developing the bilateral relations. The agreement has entered in force on June, 16th 2016.
Enhancement of the Scientific Cooperation Between Italy and Cyprus
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and the Cyprus Institute (CyI) was signed at CNR headquarters in Rome on October 24th, 2017 .The MoU covers the mutual scientific interests between the two parties, and is the result of a long-lasting scientific collaboration. CNR and CyI agreed on a common set of actions that will be the foundations for future scientific and technological collaborations between the two countries. The selected research areas of interest are: Climate Change and Adoption of Common Strategies in the Mediterranean, Energy, Agrifood and Biological Sciences, Humanities, Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, Sustainable Development and Water Management, Computational Sciences.
