Diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Italy started in 1960 immediately after the end of the British rule on the island and the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus. Since then, relations have been lively and intense with the various Italian Ambassadors in Nicosia particularly active in promoting and improving cooperative relations between the two countries.
