Embassy of Italy in Nicosia<\/strong><\/p>\n PRESS RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n Italian Cinema takes center stage during the Cyprus edition of the Italian Language Week in the World 2017 (16-22 October)<\/strong><\/p>\n In the framework of the 17th edition of the Italian Language Week in the World which is dedicated to Italian Cinema (\u201cL\u2019italiano al cinema, l\u2019italiano nel cinema\u201d), the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia, in partnership with the \u201cFriends of Cinema Society\u201d, has put together a program of recent Italian movies which will be screened free of charge at the \u201cCineStudio\u201d of the University of Nicosia, in Italian with English subtitles, including a special screening with Italian Writer and Filmmaker Claudio Rossi Massimi and Italian producer Lucia Macale.<\/p>\n The week will open on 16 October with \u201cOro Verde\u201d directed by Mohammed Soudani, a Swiss filmmaker of Algerian origins, presented in partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in Nicosia, marking a second year of successful cooperation with Switzerland in promoting Italian language and culture in Cyprus. There will be also a screening on 23 October in Larnaca.<\/p>\n Wednesday 18 October there will be a screening of \u201cHow Strange to be Named Federico\u201d, the tribute of Ettore Scola to Federico Fellini, the world renowned director who greatly contributed to the international fame of Italian cinema with movies such as \u201cLa Dolce Vita\u201d, a universal symbol of Italian lifestyle.<\/p>\n The highlight of the program will be Friday 20 October with the screening of the movie \u201cLa Sindrome di Antonio\u201d at the presence of the writer\/director Claudio Rossi Massimi and of the producer Lucia Macale, who will introduce their work and interact with the audience after the screening. The movie \u2013 which has won various awards and showcases an excellent cast including Giorgio Albertazzi in his last screen appearance \u2013 was filmed mostly in Greece, and highlights the strong historical and cultural links between Italy and the Hellenic world.
