A FAIRY TALE A DAY \u2013 TWO NEW INITIATIVES OF THE ITALIAN EMBASSY IN CYPRUS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

While staying at home, the Embassy of Italy joins the programme #WeAreItaly and proposes two initiatives to promote the knowledge of Italian traditional stories and fairy tales and to celebrate the centenary of the renown Italian author Gianni Rodari.<\/p>\n

ITALIAN TRADITIONAL STORIES AND FAIRY TALES PRESENTED BY THE EMBASSY OF ITALY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Embassy of Italy, in collaboration with the Fairytale Museum in Nicosia, launches a series of online readings of Gianni Rodari\u2019s tales, along with Italian traditional stories, such as those collected and edited by Italo Calvino in \u201cItalian Folktales.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"The readings, specially presented for this Embassy by actor and author Cesare Capitani, will be published every day for two weeks on the Embassy\u2019s channels starting from April 14th. They will then remain available on our YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

Cesare Capitani, graduated from Civica Scuola d’Arte Drammatica \u201cPaolo Grassi,\u201d formerly known as Piccolo Teatro di Milano, created by Giorgio Strehler. He is involved in both classical and contemporary theatre. He wrote and interpreted various works, including \u201cM\u00e9dinital\u00ec\u201d, “Io, Caravaggio\u201d and \u201cL’altro Galileo.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0GIANNI RODARI BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE FAIRY TALES MUSEUM IN NICOSIA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 14th, the Fairytale Museum in Nicosia will also offer a choice of tale readings from Gianni Rodari\u2019s work, which will be interpreted by both Cypriot and Greek artists. Inspired by Rodari\u2019s \u201cTelephone Tales,\u201d volunteers of the Museum will read some stories over the phone to children.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, the Museum will launch a contest with prizes on its Facebook page: Children will be asked to paint\/craft a place in Italy they wish to visit. The Embassy will offer a choice of Rodari\u2019s books as a prize to the best works.<\/p>\n

GIANNI RODARI\u2019S CENTENARY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This year will mark the centenary of the birth of Gianni Rodari, Italian writer, journalist, poet, and renowned author of children books. Amongst his most important works: The Adventures of the Little Onion, Gelsomino in the Country of Liars, Nursery Rhymes in the Sky and on Earth, Telephone Tales, Twice Upon a Time there was a Baron called Lamberto.<\/p>\n

Throughout 2020, the Embassy of Italy will promote the events dedicated to Gianni Rodari on its social channels.<\/p>\n
