ITALIAN DESIGN DAY 2023 IN CYPRUS

“Tangible and Intangible qualities of Italian Design”

March 7, Strovolos Cultural Center, starting at 17.00

The Italian Design Day is back in its seventh edition. Initiatives will be carried out all over the world to promote the best of Italian furniture, architecture and design abroad.

The theme for this year’s edition is “Enlightening quality. The energy of design for people and environment”. At the basis of this choice is the idea to create synergy between the various facets of the sector, from quality as a connector along the entire supply chain of Italian design to energy as an element at the base of the production process, from sustainability and respect for the environment to people as the core around which to conceive and develop innovative ideas to combine functionality and well-being.

For this edition, the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia has invited Prof. Alba Cappellieri, Professor at the Milan Polytechnic – Faculty of Design, member of the scientific committee of the Ecole Van Cleef & Arpels of Paris and of the Cologni Foundation, director of the Jewellery Museum in the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza.

Prof Cappellieri will be our guest in the context of an event dedicated to Italian Design and will address the topic “Tangible and Intangible qualities of Italian Design” together with architect Mrs. Margarita Danou, representing the Cyprus Architects Association, Prof Alessandra Swiny from the Department of Architecture at the School of Humanities & Social Sciences of the University of Nicosia and Mr. Soteris Diakou, Brand Manager and member of the Board of Directors of Ergo Home Group. The colloquium will be moderated by Mr. Claudio Pasqualucci, Director of the Italian Trade Agency Beirut for Cyprus, Lebanon and Syria.

The event is open to the public.

Special thanks to Ergo Home Group for setting up a cosy living room for the purpose of the colloquium with selected items from B&B Italia furniture company and Kartell, as well as N.K. Ataliotis Lighting Ltd for kindly providing us with lamps of Italian design.

On the sidelines of the event, a photographic exhibition on Italian companies and renowned Italian designers will be displayed.

Italian Design Day 2023 is promoted as part of the beIT and Vivere all’Italiana initiatives and is organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Association for Industrial Design, the Compasso d’Oro Foundation, the Italian Trade Agency, the Salone del Mobile, the Milan Triennale, FederlegnoArredo, the Altagamma Foundation and Confindustria.
