wwic cyprus a3 v2

The Embassy of Italy in Cyprus is pleased to invite you at the 7th edition of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, that will take place on the 14th – 20th November 2022 and experience ‘The Extraordinary Italian Taste’!

This year’s edition is dedicated on ‘Conviviality, sustainability and innovation: the ingredients of the Italian cuisine for people’s health and the safeguard of the planet’.

On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus and the Italian Trade Agency propose a vast programme of events in order to underline the Italian presence of the food and wine sectors in Cyprus, and present the Italian culinary tradition of high quality using world famous gastronomic products and wines.

Special guest from Italy

For this year’s edition we are pleased to welcome to Cyprus Gianni Tarabini – an Italian chef who has worked in many Italian restaurants and who is currently in charge of La Preséf di Mantello Restaurant in Lombardy. His culinary philosophy, focusing on the values of sustainability and zero chilometer food, have secured him with the recognition of the Green Michelin Star in November 2021.

Chef Tarabini will participate in various cooking events, at the TV programme ‘Omorfi Mera’, where he will demonstrate the dish that secured him the Michelin Star, and will hold a Masterchef Class addressed to students enrolled in the advanced level course ‘Hotel and hospitality Management’ at the University of Nicosia. Chef Tarabini is a member of the association ‘Ambasciatori del Gusto’.

Alpha Mega

The Embassy of Italy in Cyprus and the Italian Trade Agency are pleased to announce that their collaboration with Alpha Mega, the biggest chain of hypermarkets in Cyprus, has been renewed. For the whole week, Alpha Mega will promote Italian products of high quality, and will organise a culinary event with Chef Gianni Tarabini at the hypermarket of Engomi.

The extraordinary Italian taste

As in previous years, the Embassy has approached restaurants, wine bars and delicatessen engaged in the promotion of the Italian gastronomic tradition on the island, to celebrate the Week with menus, wine tastings and promotions (see below for the complete list of our partners).

The Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World is the annual event dedicated to the promotion of Italian cuisine and Italian food products of high quality, promoted by our network of Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes and Trade Agencies abroad.

As in previous editions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is organising a conference at the Farnesina to officially launch the celebrations around the world and will coordinate a global communications campaign, available also on the Embassy’s social media.

In Cyprus, the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World will take place with the collaboration of restaurants, wine bars and delicatessen that offer Italian products of high quality and constitute therefore the best of what Italian food and wine tradition has to offer.
