EXPO 2030. Candidacy of Rome

On December 14, Italy participated in the 169th edition of the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) which was held remotely. The city of Rome, like four other countries (South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Ukraine), presented its project regarding the World Expo 2030.

The title designed for this universal exhibition is: "People and territories: urban regeneration, inclusion and innovation". With this theme we want to focus on the need to implement an intense redevelopment of the territories starting from the needs of the people. In addition, it is intended to find a meeting point between innovation and sustainable development.

The candidacy presented by Luigi Di Maio (the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), Roberto Gualtieri (the Mayor of Rome) and Giampiero Massolo (the President of the World Expo 2030 Nomination Committee), is the first step of a long promotion campaign. The BIE General Assembly, in fact, will vote at the end of 2023 on the city that will host the World Expo 2030.
