Dantedì, the National Day to celebrate Dante Alighieri

Dantedì, the National Day to celebrate Dante Alighieri

Today we celebrate the Dantedì, the National Day established by the Council of Ministers dedicated to Dante Alighieri. This year, 2021, also marks 700 years from the Supreme Poet’s death.

On this occasion, the Embassy of Italy in Nicosia launched the contest “La Divina Commedia in una Foto”, where participants were asked to take a picture which would represent a triplet from Dante’s greatest work.

At the conclusion of the contest, we are pleased to publish the three photos that have obtained the most likes on the Facebook page of the Embassy.

The authors of the three winning photos will receive a copy of the audiobook "From the dark forest to Paradise", which will be hand during a special ceremony organized by the Embassy of Italy in Cyprus. We thank all the participants who, with great enthusiasm, by sending many beautiful photos or expressing their preferences, contributed to the success of the initiative.

To celebrate the Dantedì, the Cyprus Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society has launched the "La Dante legge Dante" initiative. Readings of some triplets from the Divina Commedia by the members and students of Italian language are published on the Committee's Facebook page.

The Dante Alighieri Society also proposes for the next months a series of events dedicated to the figure of the Supreme Poet. All the details are available on the Committee's web page.
