The Cyprus Institute participates in the ‘4CH’ Project on the Conservation of Cultural Heritage

The Cyprus Institute participates in the project ‘4CH’ (Competence Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage), led by the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics, aimed at creating a European Competence Center for the study, conservation and valorisation of Cultural Heritage, taking advantage of the most innovative existing digital technologies.

For the next three years, under the guidance of Associate Professor Sorin Hermon, the allocated grant will help the researchers of The Cyprus Institute to develop new methods for the 3D documentation and study of the island’s archaeological heritage. Furthermore, the Institute will collaborate with the Department of Antiquities for the development of best practices and adoption of policies to best promote the required digital transformation within the public sector.

The project was launched in January 2021 and is funded by the European Commission in the context of Horizon 2020. Coordinated by the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (Infn), the project has a partnership of 19 public and private entities, from 13 countries of the European Union.
