Italy celebrates Europe Day 2019 in Cyprus with “Together for Europe” Music Festival (Larnaca, 4 May 2019)

The Italian Embassy celebrates Europe Day 2019 in Cyprus by participating in the “Together for Europe” festival, a musical event highlighting European friendship, organized by the Embassy of Romania under the auspices of the Romanian Presidency of the EU in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. The concert will feature three artists/bands, including the Italian singer-songwriter Paolo Vallesi.

Vallesi, well known in Italy for his successful participations in the prestigious Sanremo Festival and for his chart-topping albums and singles, will showcase some of his greatest hits and recent successes. He will also pay a tribute to the “canzone italiana” with covers of Italian evergreen songs. His presence in Cyprus is sponsored by WAVAYA, manufacturer of custom in-ear monitors, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy.

The Festival, which will take place in Finikoudes Beach on Saturday 4 May at 19.30, also includes performances by Delirium Elephants from Cyprus and Moonlight Breakfast from Romania (free entry).

Paolo Vallesi came into the spotlight in 1991 by winning the “New Talent” category at the Sanremo Music Festival – the most prestigious Italian song contest, held since 1951 - with the song “Le persone inutili”.

He released his first album called “Paolo Vallesi” which was in the charts for months, selling almost 200,000 copies, earning him his first gold disc. In 1992 he was back in Sanremo, this time in the ‘Top Stars’ category, with “La forza della vita”, reaching third place.

The album of the same name, which sold over 500,000 copies was awarded a platinum disc and was the second top-selling album of the year. His music is also on release internationally, including in a Spanish language version.

He recently won the competition “Ora o Mai più” on the main Italian public TV channel RAI 1, with his new single “Ritrovarsi Ancora”.
