Making Italy an ideal destination for studying abroad: Scholarships assigned to Cypriot nationals

The Embassy of Italy in Nicosia has the pleasure to inform that the Government of Italy has granted in 2018 a series of scholarships to Cypriot nationals for the academic year 2018/2019. The said scholarships were directed at students wishing to attend accredited Italian educational institutions to pursue Master’s degrees, Courses of Higher Education in Arts, Music and Dance, Ph.D. programs, Research under academic supervision, and Courses in Italian language and culture in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture. This year, the scholarships have been awarded to two Cypriot students for postgraduate degrees at the University of Pavia and at the New Academy of Fine Arts (Naba) in Milan.

The annual scholarships program is part of an array of initiatives aimed at promoting the Italian language and culture in Cyprus, which also include the provision of an Italian lecturer at the University of Cyprus since 1993, opportunities of professional development and the supply of educational material to schools and universities.

Towards this end, the Embassy of Italy also continues the collaboration with the University for Foreigners of Perugia by assigning on an annual basis to Cypriot nationals a full scholarship for a course in Italian language and culture. This year, the scholarship has been awarded to a Cypriot student of the Language Centre of the University of Cyprus dedicated to learning the Italian language.

In addition, this year the Embassy of Italy has established a collaboration with the University of Rome – Tor Vergata and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus thanks to which 15 students with 2 accompanying teachers from Cyprus High Schools have attended in July 2018 a summer school in Rome dedicated to the Italian language and culture. This new initiative represents a further significant step towards providing Cypriot students with concrete offers for studies in Italy.
